Don't Mess With Me
rusted steel, roofing nails, paper mash
2011
These pieces are from an exhibit "Her Infinite Variety". Here is my statement for that show:What does a woman want? Wrong question, Dr. Freud! There is no single, or simple, answer. We are, and want, and deserve, and are capable of - EVERYTHING. Her Infinite Variety attempts to capture a sense of this diversity. Depicted by torsos that began as identical papier maché casts, I add paint, patinas, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, sports equipment, mother-boards and hardware to make each, as is each woman, unique. Each represents a different aspect of Woman - social, political, religious, humorous, wicked, venial, pure.
